About This Wine

Appearance

A deep, intense ruby‑red with warm mahogany undertones. Its colour signals richness and power, while the slow tears in the glass reveal concentration and long aging.

Premium packaging in a smart cylindrical format with embossed copper-coloured lettering. If UV light falls onto the bottle its fluorescent colours reveal the hidden side of Padró & Co. Rojo Amargo.

Scent / Nose

Vibrant and aromatic, led by citrus peel, cinnamon, clove and nutty notes. The double botanical infusion creates a layered nose: bright citrus at the top, warm spice in the middle, and subtle roasted nuances beneath.

Palate / Taste

Velvety, voluminous and unapologetically bitter. The palate opens with sweet‑spiced warmth before expanding into a deep, persistent bitterness shaped by a secret botanical formula. The texture is smooth and enveloping, finishing long, bold and complex.

Food Pairings

A powerful vermouth that shines with equally expressive foods:

  • Blue cheeses
  • Smoked fish (salmon, mackerel, eel)
  • Dark chocolate with sea salt

These pairings amplify its intensity and highlight its citrus‑spice backbone.

Storage Temperature

Store between 12–16°C in a cool, dark place. Refrigerate after opening to preserve aromatic clarity and bitterness.

Serving Temperature

Serve chilled at 6–10°C to balance its richness and sharpen its citrus‑spice profile. Pour over ice and garnish with an orange slice and olives. Famous for creating an outstanding Negroni cocktail.

Coupage

Defined by a double infusion:

  • First infusion: aromatic high‑mountain botanicals
  • Second infusion: a complex formula of plant bark and roots, bringing the total to over 70 botanicals.

This dual process creates exceptional depth and intensity.

Aging Time & Barrel Type

Aged for 24 months in chestnut casks, giving roundness, warmth and a refined oxidative touch that supports its bold bitterness.
